Romania’s Defense Minister Resigns Over Misleading CV Details

Bucharest: Romania’s Defense Minister, Ionut Mosteanu, resigned on Friday following controversy over inaccurate information in his CV, according to international news agencies.

In a statement on Facebook, Mosteanu admitted that he mistakenly listed a university in his CV which he had never attended. He explained that the error was unintentional but chose to step down to allow Romania to focus fully on its challenging defense missions.

“I have resigned from my position because I want Romania to remain focused on its difficult mission,” Mosteanu wrote.

The former defense minister emphasized the importance of Romania’s national security, especially in the context of ongoing threats from Russian military actions. He stated that Romania and Europe face serious security challenges and that the country must defend its sovereignty at all costs.

The resignation comes after the CV controversy sparked widespread debate, raising questions about transparency and accountability within the government.
