Islamabad: Sources within the Petroleum Division have revealed how much tax citizens pay on every liter of petrol and diesel in Pakistan. According to the report, 37% of the price of petrol consists of taxes, which amounts to Rs 96.28 per liter.
Similarly, 34% of the diesel price is tax-based, meaning consumers pay Rs 94.92 in taxes per liter of diesel.
Officials said these taxes are collected under different heads, including customs duty, petroleum levy, and climate levy imposed by the government.
The current fuel prices in Pakistan stand at Rs 263.45 per liter for petrol and Rs 279.64 per liter for diesel.
