DG ISPR Says One Individual Has Become a Threat to Pakistan’s National Security

Rawalpindi: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that a single individual has become a serious threat to Pakistan’s national security by placing personal identity and desires above the state.

Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, the DG ISPR stated that the person believes “if I am not there, then nothing exists,” calling such thinking and narrative dangerous for national stability. He stressed that inciting the public against the Pakistan Army would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry emphasized that the Pakistan Army does not represent any political party, religious group, sect, or elite class, but belongs to the people of Pakistan and largely comes from middle-class backgrounds. He urged political forces to continue their politics but keep the military out of it.

“No one will be allowed to create a divide between the army and the people,” he said, adding that attempts to provoke public sentiment against the armed forces directly undermine national security.

The DG ISPR further stated that propaganda against the Pakistan Army is being amplified by Indian and Afghan media. During the briefing, he presented video evidence suggesting that certain political party social media accounts were allegedly operated from abroad, including India and Afghanistan.

He said anti-state narratives, including calls to stop paying electricity bills, discourage overseas remittances, and appeal to international institutions not to support Pakistan, are highly damaging and unacceptable.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified that freedom of expression is guaranteed by the Constitution, but statements related to national security and attacks on state institutions cross a red line.

Highlighting the sacrifices of the armed forces, he said that officers and soldiers continue to give their lives in the fight against terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where terrorism remains a major challenge.

The DG ISPR reiterated that terrorism cannot be eliminated overnight and requires strong political consensus and full implementation of the National Action Plan. He concluded by saying that as long as Pakistan exists, its armed forces will continue to protect the state and its people.
