Four people, including the Assistant Commissioner of North Waziristan, were martyred after armed men opened fire on a police vehicle in Bannu on Monday.
According to police officials, unidentified gunmen ambushed a police vehicle near Miranshah Road Flour Mills, killing two police officers on the spot. The attackers also snatched official weapons from the injured police personnel before fleeing the scene.
Initial police reports stated that three people, including two police officers, were martyred while two others sustained injuries. However, later confirmations revealed that the vehicle carrying Assistant Commissioner North Waziristan, Shah Waliullah, had also been targeted.
The Assistant Commissioner of Bannu confirmed the incident, saying that the attackers shot at the official vehicle, injuring two policemen and the driver.
Following further verification, authorities confirmed that Assistant Commissioner Shah Waliullah, along with two police personnel, succumbed to their injuries, raising the total number of martyrs to four.
The tragic incident has raised serious concerns regarding security challenges in the region as police continue to search for the armed suspects involved in the attack.
