Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Kazuma Okamoto has been scratched from Monday night’s lineup against the Boston Red Sox because of a left knee contusion.

Okamoto is considered day-to-day, while Toronto recalled Charles McAdoo from triple-A Buffalo to replace him at third base.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said McAdoo would bat seventh as Toronto looks to generate more offence.

“He’s just going right in where Ok was. String of lefties coming up in the next three games, obviously he feels comfortable against righties too, but we need a little bit more production out of that spot,” Schneider said.

Toronto also added right-handed pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson to its major-league roster as the team manages a heavily used bullpen.

“We’ve got a taxed bullpen. I think we can use him quite a bit if we need to,” Schneider said.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer were cleared to play after both were hurt during the weekend series against Philadelphia.

Pitcher Spencer Arrighetti is dealing with Morton’s neuroma in his foot, with no timeline set for his return.
