Free agent forward Jeremy Sochan has agreed to a one-year contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN.
ESPN citing Sochan’s agent Deirunas Visockas, reported that the 23-year-old will join Portland ahead of the new NBA season. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
According to ESPN, the deal is expected to be worth the veteran’s minimum and may not be fully guaranteed, with Sochan likely competing for one of the final places on the Trail Blazers’ regular season roster.
Sochan was selected ninth overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2022 NBA Draft and spent the first three and a half seasons of his career in San Antonio.
During that time, he averaged at least 11 points per game in each of his first three seasons while playing several different roles.
He was released by the Spurs after last season’s trade deadline before signing with the New York Knicks, where he saw limited playing time.
Despite that, he earned his first NBA championship after the Knicks defeated the Spurs in the NBA Finals.
Across 228 regular season games, Sochan has averaged 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
