Taylor Gausman has shared an emotional farewell to the Toronto Blue Jays and their fans after her husband, pitcher Kevin Gausman, was traded to the Chicago Cubs.
The Blue Jays dealt the two-time All-Star to Chicago on Sunday as he enters the final year of his contract, ending his five-season spell in Toronto.
In a post on social media, Taylor Gausman reflected on the family’s time with the club.
“How do I even begin to sum up these last five years? It seems as though we just got here but have always been here at the same time,” she wrote.
She thanked the Blue Jays organisation, teammates and supporters for making Toronto feel like home.
“Choosing Toronto really was the best decision we could have ever made.”
“Thank you to all of the Blue Jays staff for making it so easy to come to the field and feel at home, thank you to the fans for showing so much love not only to Kevin but to our whole family.”
Taylor concluded her message by writing: “Goodbye just seems too hard so for now it’s see you later.”
The post drew messages of support from several current and former Blue Jays families, including the wives of Max Scherzer, George Springer, Shane Bieber, Mason Fulharty and Jeff Hoffman.
Gausman has already joined the Cubs, although the club has not yet announced when the 35-year-old will make his debut for Chicago.
